FINANCIAL AID/SCHOLARSHIPS: All students applying to college should be filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application becomes available online on January 1st (and is due March 1st). It requires information from your tax documents, but last year's information can be used to estimate.

MI Competitive Scholarship: JUNIORS to be considered eligible for the state of Michigan Competitive Scholarship you must take the ACT prior to December of your senior year. Along with that you must:
- Achieve a qualifying ACT score
- Demonstrate financial need
- Be a Michigan resident
- Enroll at least half-time at an eligible Michigan college/university
- Be a US citizen, permanent resident, and
- Not have a bachelor's degree

Local Scholarship Information
Local scholarship applications and directions are given to seniors on February 1st of each year. All materials are due back into the Counselor's Office by March 1st -- unless it falls on a holiday or weekend. If this occurs, then all materials are due the first day following March 1st that school is in session.

Applications for the following local scholarships are available in the office.
- MEA Local Scholarship- Two $300 scholarships for students seeking a degree in education. Essay and recommendation required. (These are different than the previously available state MEA scholarship.)
- Stanley & Blanche Ash Scholarships- $750-$1000. Based on financial need, G.P.A., ACT scores, essay and recommendations required. (Preference to MCC candidates.)
- Isabella County Farm Bureau-for Isabella county resident and agricultural major required.
- Isabella Bank & Trust Scholarship- 3.0 G.P.A. or better, essay, references, and community involvement required.
- Harry E. Tope Memorial Aviation Scholarship –for aviation major. Essay and references needed.
- Homeworks Tri-County Electric Cooperative- $1,000 for student whose parents/guardians live in the service area and are members of the co-op. Financial need, community service, essay, recommendation, and G.P.A. required.
- Jason Parrot Scholarship- for Isabella County resident with need for special materials or equipment to learn.
- Michigan State Troopers Assistance Fund – Requires 3.25 or higher G.P.A., leadership ability, and community service.
- Rosa Parks Scholarship- $2,000 – Based on essay, community service, financial need, recommendations, and 2.5 G.P.A. or better.
- The Michigan Retailers Association is offering at least thirty $1,000 scholarships to Michigan students. Either the student or their parent must be employed at a business that is a member of the Michigan Retailers Association (MRA). No financial need required. Seniors or current college students may apply. Applications are available in the office or on line at www.retailers.com (access code is MIRA)
- Central Michigan University is offering several scholarships during Centralis Competition. 360 scholarships are being offered during this competition. All high school students with GPA of 3.5 or higher are eligible to compete. If you have not already made your reservations for the Centralis Scholarship Competition, or if you would like additional information, please contact: Admissions office, Central Michigan University, Warriner 102, Mt. - The Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Education Foundation is offering a $500 Michigan college scholarship to a senior with financial need and at least a 3.0 GPA that is seeking a career in the oil and gas industry, an energy related industry, or an associated industry. The application is available at www.mogpef.org.
- United by Faith Christian Church is awarding a $500 scholarship to a Montabella senior that best describes how their chosen course of study will enable them to help their fellow man. Applications are available in the counseling office.
